(ECNS) -- “I think the most important improvement was the relationships between the diplomacy that allowed the visas for the tourism in China to the Brazilians and in Brazil to the Chinese people,” said Ana Cristina Carvalho, chair of the Tourism Association at Federation Chambers of Foreign Trade (FCCE) of Brazil in an interview with China News Network.
The year 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil. Carvalho stated that over the past five decades, the bilateral relations have made significant progress, with cooperation between the two countries becoming increasingly diverse and profound.
Carvalho highlighted that improvements in visa policies between the two nations in recent years have greatly promoted tourism, offering travelers more opportunities to explore each other's countries.
According to Carvalho, in the past, visitors to China mostly chose a few major cities. Now, they can venture into more provinces, discovering historical relics and natural attractions. From well-preserved ancient sites to modern tourist destinations with comprehensive infrastructure, China's booming tourism industry is evident.
She noted that 20 years ago, Brazilians might perceive China as a hardworking and pragmatic nation. However, today, China presents itself to the world as an open and welcoming country. With well-planned urban designs and a hospitable attitude toward foreign visitors, Brazilian tourists feel at home in China. She particularly emphasized, "China have really great, a great system of security. I really feel very secure in China to go around.”
The 19th Group of 20 (G20) Summit kicked off in Rio de Janeiro on Monday, marking Brazil's first term as the G20 rotating presidency as South America’s largest economy. Carvalho pointed out that the G20 Summit provides a platform for participants to engage in extensive discussions on various topics, including health, education, and urban living standards.
“I'm very happy that this year the G20 Summit is held in my hometown Rio de Janeiro. When we think about the summit, everybody is enthusiastic about what G20 can bring to us and how we can jump and make suggestions into it. It's not only to jump there and to go around and talk with people, because we are talking about some meetings between presidents. I think what Brazilians expect really from this G20 Summit is that they could accept our suggestions for the world,” she stated.
